You're looking for volunteer and teaching abroad during your high school abroad experience? .. And have you tried looking at applications to scholarships like Fullbrightand such?

Hey there! You can check out Leave UR Mark. Since you will be 17, you would just need parental consent. There are plenty of affordable projects including volunteering at an orphanage, teaching English to underprivileged communities, or helping out with sports. http://www.leaveurmark.com or the email is: info@leaveurmark.com Good luck!

Check out the Rotary youth exchange! 1 year travel abroad, study at the school, stay with a host family, etc. Those who I know who have done have loved it. Only costs involved are airfare, insurance, and spending money. Get your application in by the end of September! I would advise showing up at a Rotary meeting first just to garner some support, it will make getting accepted a bit easier. Probably the best opportunity available!!
