Marketing Internship

I highly do not recommend this company.
For me, it was the biggest waste of money I've ever made. I could say so many things, but I prefer not to waste my time, because that's how I felt treated during most of this internship, a waste of time.
The only thing I liked was having assistance from Vitória Souza, and I only decided to do it because of her.

Overall, I definitely didn't learn anything 😉
Hope you can make a good research online, and try to find a better company, where really support you when you need.

Australian Internships Professional program

I was excited to try and new filed organised by Australian Internships. Throughout the course of my internship they gave me nothing but absolute support in completion as well as extension of the internship. In the process of doing my internship I gained a lot of insight in the professional field. Working on projects where I can actively research and get feedback, following up to clients on important matters. In the end you’re comfortable at your workplace because you can manage certain tasks in a professional manner

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The amount information that you can get if you contact the right people. I was hesitant of the idea at first but later on I realised how much one can gain if you put some time away to actually learning a skill.

Junior Structure Engineer Intern

It was a great journey with J & P Building Solutions, Melbourne. While working with design team at my host organisation, I learned many design software throughout my internship and good skills of designing the structure. The host organisation supervisor and other design team was very helpful in guiding me in learning designing of the structure. It was a great journey with J & P Building Solutions, Melbourne. What made this experience unique and special?

This unforgettable experience provided me with a big picture of the operation of an accounting firm. Not only did I gain the experience of working with professionals, but I also gained a full understanding of the Australian firm’s culture and how different departments interconnect with each other. I am enjoying the work with my supervisor, manager and colleagues in the dynamic working environment. I am truly grateful for getting this opportunity and I would say that I did not regret applying for this internship program!

What would you improve about this program?
This program can be improved if they can allow student/graduate interns to be paid by their employer.

Great experience

During the time that I stayed in Australia, it was awesome to learn about working in an office and get new skills, such as interpersonal relationship, marketing and business, and improve my field, IT.

What would you improve about this program?
I'd like to read the company's profile before. Usually, they first talk to the company, then to the intern. I believe that we should say if we are willing to go to the company before.

Hi there! I am a second year uni student from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where I am majoring in biological sciences with a concentration in human physiology. There's nothing I love more than an adrenaline rush, so if you know any good places to jump out of an airplane, bungee jump from a building, or come in close contact with dangerous animals feel free to let me know.

Why did you pick this program?

Currently I am working in the Queensland Institute of Medical Research. Although I am not planning on pursuing research as a career, the scientific process and troubleshooting that is practiced within the laboratory will provide me with a foundation in medicine while I pursue a career as a medical doctor.

Working in research is extremely complex, yet so rewarding. Everyday I go to work, I am running trials and looking at results of things that NO ONE has ever seen before. Each day is completely different. I have had much success with my project pertaining to scabies disease thus far, and it is truly incredible to say that I have pioneered my way to some of the newest results pertaining to the disease.

What do you wish someone had told you before you went abroad?

To start a blog! I have the best time going back through old pictures and memories of my excursions.

What is the most important thing you learned abroad?

That I haven't seen anything yet. I have merely scraped the surface of the places I wish to go, and I can't wait to embark on so many future adventures.

What was the hardest part about going abroad?

It's so much new! It can be so exciting yet so draining when every single thing in your daily life becomes something unknown. Having to scope out every place you wish to go, even something as simple as getting groceries or mailing a post card can be quite difficult when you don't know a single person or how to get anywhere.

What's your favorite story to tell about your time abroad?

We were in Cairns. I was scuba diving. My scuba instructor showed us every creature from the movie Finding Nemo, from squirt the turtle to nemo (clown fish) himself. I was delighted. He then made the hand gesture for a shark. I looked down and there was this three meter shark chilling below us. Do you know how hard it is to scream with scuba gear on?

What made this experience unique and special?

My mindset has been completely changed. At uni in the States, I am in a rush 100% of the time. I can barely get my thoughts together, let alone listen to those of others. This internship has taught me the value that others' can bring to your life, and how much you can learn from simply having a coffee with someone.

Tell us about an experience you had that you could not have had at home.

I think simply being placed in a location, where I am a day's journey (by plane) from anyone I previously knew and from any place I previously knew is an experience. You have to pioneer your way through each part of your life, which can be tricky but also fun and opportunistic for exploring.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

Medical research IS HARD. For every 19 failures, I get 1 success. But the 19 failures build character, more than the 1 success ever will.

What made this trip meaningful to you, or how did this trip change your perceptions, future path?

I never thought I would be able to navigate so effectively. Not just with directions, but in meeting and getting to know others as well as immersing myself in a new culture.

Name one thing you did on this trip that you will tell your kids about.

In one day, just 24 hours, I jumped from a plane, took a helicopter ride, went scuba diving, almost got eaten by a shark, and found nemo.

What is your favorite travel memory?

My favourite travel memory was the first time I visited a Disney park.

I had wanted to visit Disney since I was a child and had never had the opportunity to do so. The first Disney park that I visited was Disneyland in Anaheim, California for the 60th Anniversary and I still remember the feeling I experienced when I first saw Sleeping Beauty Castle. It was the most surreal feeling!

I have now had the opportunity to visit almost every Disney theme park in the world and also worked in Walt Disney World, which was an amazing experience.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I have definitely changed since working for Australian Internships. I believe that I have gained a wider, more correct knowledge of the world that I am so lucky to live in and a better understanding and appreciation of International Education.

Daily, I have the opportunity to interact with individuals from many backgrounds, cultures, and countries and enjoy helping those individuals to move to Australia to gain skills and experience that they may not otherwise have the opportunity to learn. It really is such a rewarding role!

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

I love hearing stories where every opportunity to experience Australia was taken in every aspect – from the food and the nightlife to making lifelong friends from all over the world. This program is all about ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunities and hearing that my students took risks and were brave enough to try new things makes me excited for their future and proud of their journey.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I would choose to complete a 6-month Professional Internship Program as I believe it would give me the skills and experience that I am currently lacking in my chosen field. I also believe that Australian Internships has the resources to find an opportunity for me that is directly related to my Human Resource Management Degree in a city in Australia that I may not have visited before.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

Australian Internships offer an Internship Program and the word "Program" means so much more than I could have imagined. We tailor each Internship to the individual applicant and support them before, during and after their Internship. Along with this, each of us in our individual roles develope personal relationships with our stakeholders to ensure we are performing best practice in everything that we do.

Something happens each day which makes me proud to be a part of Australian Internships - my team really go above and beyond and I couldn't complete my role without each individual in the organization.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

I believe that communication holds the greatest importance of any successful company. Communication throughout the organization and with stakeholders ensures that policies, procedures and best practices are being implemented. This creates a respectful and understanding culture for everyone involved throughout the process.
