We're giving away tons of Apple gear!
Last fall we ran our first Leave-a-Review contest. We partnered with the best outdoor companies in the world (Patagonia, CLIF Bar, Marmot, Mountain Hardwear, Timbuk2, and Camelbak) to award great prizes to people who left reviews. Go Overseas sponsored the grand prize, an around the world airline ticket. The winner, Terri Wingham, is on her amazing six month trip right now (currently in India after several weeks in Vietnam).
We’re not one to let success lull us into complacency. We’re back at it with another contest: more prizes, more reviews, more...

Andrew in Italy
So a lot of my day is actually spent off Go Overseas and on other websites and blogs. I really enjoy reading about and interacting with fellow travelers who are either teaching, studying, or volunteering abroad (this is actually the best part of my job). I recently came across a couple posts that were discussing 'what makes a good global citizen,' and why anyone should care. I personally think that there is no right answer that fits within everyones framework, but it is becoming an increasingly important concept to explore and discuss as more people seek out opportunities...

Go is extremely proud and happy (even giddy) to announce the launch of our updated Rating and Review System. The Go Review system speaks to the heart and soul of this website. We’ve included all sorts of helpful and fun new features in our review system. We think our new review system looks pretty darn spiffy. As our famous Marketing Director, Tucker Hutchinson, likes to say, “It’s 2.0”.
So sue us, we’re proud parents and we’re not going to stop bragging about our beautiful child. We want the world to know about our review system. We don’t plan on stopping until we have extensive reviews for...

Why do you travel?
The best way for me to explain why I travel so much is to simply state: it is an escape from the ordinary and a search for something extraordinary. If you are on this site and reading this, I am going to make a fair assumption that you too are searching for something beyond your own horizons.
But why do it? What makes seeing the Pyramids of Giza or enduring a 16 hour flight to Australia so satisfying? Why not stay close to home and visit that local museum you have never been to? First, you may be surprised to know that some people actually do this and feel no desire at all...

This website, and blog, is about you, the traveler. Go Overseas was started for a very simple reason: To help people make more informed decisions about programs abroad. The idea came from searching for programs ourselves. There’s a ton of information out there on the interwebs, but it’s not easy to separate the great from the good, the good from the bad and the bad from the downright scams. It’s one thing when you’re buying a used book. It’s another thing when you’re going halfway around the world to a new country through an organization you’ve never heard of before.
That’s where the Go...

It’s holiday season back home. A time for pumpkin pie and gingerbread cookies. A time for holiday concerts and reconnecting with friends. A time for sharing and giving. And a time for hordes of shoppers bumping into each other as they grab at the discounted merchandise, grumpy moms and crying children waiting in line to sit on Santa’s lap (a guy who’s been out of work since 2008), and endless hours of inescapable Christmas music. At home, we can sometimes get an overdose of the holidays.
But here in China, things are pretty low-key. People don’t generally celebrate Western holidays in China,...
