Program Description
Gap Year Diver - Fiji UNESCO Gap Year Project
As one of the most beautiful tropical locations in the world, Fiji is the ideal place to spend your gap year abroad diving and learning about the fantastic, local coal reefs. Gap Year Diver has designed a program on the island of Nasonisoni, where the waters are warm, clear, and vibrant. You will be working on the UNESCO Marine Conservation Project, and working on projects such as reef surveys, fish and invertebrate identification, substrate surveying and improving survey techniques.
The program is open to all who are interested in marine biology. The dive training with coincide with the science portion; all you need to have is your curiosity! You will be living in local “bures,” which are grass houses constructed by locals and volunteers. All of the bures overlook the Pacific Ocean and are located directly on the beach, giving you a taste of authentic local life. Travel to one of the most untouched and beautiful spots in the world for your gap year experience with Gap Year Diver!
The island is remote and secluded; there is a town not far from the camp where you can get a taste of genuine local food, life and a truly unique experience.
