Position Description

Instituto Cultural Tampico (ICT), in Tampico, Mexico is currently seeking for two English Program Adjunct Coordinators for its Elementary and Junior High School.

Summary
Has the responsibility to coordinate academic programs (Elementary and Junior High School) and work cooperatively with other teachers to develop their academic potential. He/she is to spend himself/herself for the benefit of others. An approach that serves the best interest of students as well as teachers, maintaining the highest standards in the acquisition of the language in accordance with the mission, values and academic interests of our Institute.

Qualifications
• Bachelor´s Degree.
• Some experience from elementary to higher education setting with emphasis working with students to achieve academic success and providing student services.
• Methodology course in teaching English as a second language (TESOL or CELTA).

General accountability:
Reports every month to the General Academic Coordinator, as well as the English Coordinators assigned in each level (Elementary and Junior High). He is responsible for the effective coordination and interconnection of our English programs, as well as the provision of leadership to faculty in the design and delivery of these programs.

Role of the Adjunct Coordinator:
Duties and responsibilities determined by the General Academic Coordinator are as follows:

1. Leadership
• Assists to faculty meetings held by the General Academic Coordinator, as well as meetings, every two weeks, held by the English Coordinator.
• Trains and orients faculty and assigned staff which include assuring that assigned faculty members hold the appropriate profile for his/her position.
• Promotes teacher creativity and autonomy, and shares purposes, curricula, and equitable resources as well.
• Revises the overall English program as well as the teacher’s weekly plan and elaborates recommendations (feedback) regarding the design and development of both.
• Prepares and holds personal interviews with teachers giving a written recommendation of his/her overall performance in the classroom.
• Co-responsible with teachers; monitors (class observation and personal interview), and assesses (feedback) teaching effectiveness and proficiency.
o Observes a teacher in a structured way: evaluation based on pre-conferences to share observation goals, and post-observation conferences in which both exchange viewpoints on how it went and set goals for improvement.
• Collaborates in student placement and academic counseling to students and teachers.
• Offers staff professional development and workshops in accordance to teacher´s needs and desires to acquire an English certification.

2. Planning
• Integrate content and language instruction, as well as the four language process through model classes in each classroom for students and teachers to enhance learning and teaching methods.
• Develop and maintain statistical records on programs or activities planned under his jurisdiction and analyze results as required.
• Review with the General Academic Coordinator all matters relating to coordinating activities.
• Advise the General Academic Coordinator on emerging trends in program curricula and on implementation strategies for curriculum revision.
• Inform the General Academic Coordinator regarding budget decisions affecting program curriculum and design.
• Create a program to teach English to teachers or coworkers willing to improve their fluency and written expression of the language.

3. Evaluation
• Coordinate and supervise the evaluation of student progress, including recommendations regarding completion.
• Analyze qualifications of student applicants, as requested, and make recommendations regarding their level of acquisition.
• Evaluate forms of assessment that connect to their program and skills: standardized tests, teacher-made tests, portfolios, interviews, surveys, teacher evaluation throughout the learning process.
• Evaluate our current language testing and assessment techniques to discuss testing theory and procedures.
