The mission of Teachers for Vietnam is to improve the English proficiency of Vietnamese university students by exposing them to trained native speakers. Teachers for Vietnam is committed to developing greater awareness, understanding, and personal ties between Americans and Vietnamese.

As Vietnam has developed its economy in recent years, the need for graduates who can use English professionally has grown exponentially. Students aspiring to enter business, trade, communications, government service, tourism, and other fields require a command of oral and written English. Teachers for Vietnam is addressing this great need.

By bringing teachers from the United States to Vietnam, Teachers for Vietnam is also building ties between the peoples of these two countries. Our teachers forge lasting friendships, inside and outside of the classroom. Their students get to know Americans for the first time and learn about our values and way of life first hand.

2016 Opportunities Paid teaching opportunities currently available at Can Tho University, An Giang University, and Tra Vinh Univeristy. Application deadline for Fall 2016 teaching posts is April 1, 2016. Teachers at all universities receive:

Free housing and cost-of-living salary paid by host institution
Orientation program with information on travel, health, and visas, as well as cultural and current affairs;
Medical insurance for all teachers in need of such coverage, which includes emergency medical evacuation;
Travel grants for transportation to and from Vietnam, as well as within the country and region during semester vacation.
Under the terms of their employment, teachers enjoy a modest, but adequate standard of living. In addition to their classroom responsibilities, teachers in this program have opportunities to get to know their students outside of class, visit them in their homes, and travel to other parts of Vietnam.

Application Requirements:
Teachers for Vietnam welcomes a wide range of applicants, of all ages. Any person who meets the following eligibility requirements is encouraged to apply:

Bachelor's degree;
Experience in TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) or a TESL certificate course sponsored by Teachers for Vietnam prior to departing for Vietnam;
Native fluency in written and spoken English. [Please note that knowledge of Vietnamese is not required for these teaching positions.]
