Meet Devon Alter, AIDE Abroad alum in Argentina
GO: What originally inspired you to intern in Buenos Aires with AIDE Abroad?
Devon: I had always wanted to visit Buenos Aires and had heard wonderful things about AIDE Abroad from friends. When I looked in to it and discovered that they offered an internship program, I immediately applied and never looked back.

GO: Describe your day to day activities as an intern in Buenos Aires.
Devon: I worked at a PR firm just a month or so before a big event. (Buenos Aires Fashion Week or BAFWeek) I would arrive between 9-10 and chat with the other employees while I researched and compiled international media contact info for the event. I would reach out to them with event info and try to coordinate press pass information and even coverage. On event days, I would get to go to the event locations and work on site. This meant setting up the press center, helping to coordinate media interviews and more. During the events, I was running all over the floor keeping up with reporters, interviews and my team. I also got to watch some amazing runway shows! It is the coolest job I have ever had.

GO: How has this experience impacted your future?
Devon: During my time in Buenos Aires, I grew as a person and my spanish abilities increased dramatically. It also gave me the opportunity to grow professionally. Without that experience, I would not have been hired to my current position. I now work at a PR firm with clients in and around South America. My experience in Buenos Aires was one of the main reasons my boss decided to give me an interview, and I love my job. I will always be grateful for the amazing internship placement I received from AIDE.

I absolutely adored my experience with AIDE and in Buenos Aires! I was placed at a PR firm and worked with Buenos Aires Fashion Week (BAFWeek) which was one of the coolest things I think I will ever have the chance to participate in.
Buenos Aires is an AMAZING city and I almost always felt safe.
My housing was wonderful. When I had a problem in my first placement, I was immediately moved and love my new place. Both the US and local teams followed up with me to make sure I was happy.
The team I worked with at my internship was wonderful. They made me feel welcome and made sure I had the opportunity to participate in as many aspects of the work as possible. I had real tasks every day and still keep up with my boss.
Without the experiences I had with AIDE, COINED and my internship in Buenos Aires, I would not have been given the opportunity to apply for my current position, which allows me to work and travel within LATAM. I am so thankful for that. I love what I do!
Even though I was not at the school (COINED) on a daily basis, I met some people during the walking tour on my first day there and we still keep in touch. They became my closest and most wonderful travel friends I have ever had.
I recommend this program to everyone I know and can not wait to go back to Buenos Aires. Thank you for everything AIDE!
