Nutrition Internship in the Philippines

Nutrition Internship in the Philippines
About Program
One of the main public health risks for children in rural areas of the Philippines is malnutrition. In many cases, it is not so much an issue of quantity of food, but quality. For some children, daily meals consist entirely of multiple servings of rice. This can be as much due to financial constraints as to a lack of available knowledge regarding nutrition. Interns with a background in dietetics, nutrition, public health, or related fields can work with a local nutrition project, providing nutrient rich breakfasts and lunches to school children. Participants visit the market each morning to purchase all ingredients and plan effective meals. In the afternoons, participants have the opportunity to lead informal classes and workshops addressing issues ranging from nutrition to hand-washing to dental care.
