Originally from Fallon, NV Marc attended Linfield College, in McMinnville, OR where he was part of the swim team and graduated with a B.A. of Intercultural Communication and minors in Japanese, and Religious Studies. During his sophomore year he studied abroad in Yokohama, Japan and instantly developed a great interest in the study abroad process. Upon returning, he took employment with Linfield's study abroad office and ESL programs to help other students experience life abroad.

What is your favorite travel memory?

Visiting Nara Temple while traveling around Japan during Golden Week. It's easily the most beautiful temple I saw while I was abroad, and the fact that the deer that roam the grounds are friendly enough to pet and feed made it a really enjoyable experience. There was so much to see there and it really stood out to me.

Which destination is most underrated? Conversely, which is most overrated?

In my opinion, Barcelona is overrated. Everyone goes there.

I also think that anywhere in the Middle East is underrated. The media makes it look scary, which deters a lot of students, which is definitely a bummer.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

Having a diverse and informed staff. The employees can really make or break an organization, which is why I enjoy working at ISA so much. Everyone here is friendly, agreeable, and knowledgeable.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I've expanded my knowledge and expertise of international education ten fold. It's an excellent place to grow.

What unique qualities does your company possess?

Great communication. It's easy to reach out to coworkers and collaborate on different projects. There's a real sense of community.

Describe a time when you felt especially proud to be part of your current team.

The Student Services Advisor team is amazing. The number of students we get to speak with everyday can really be inspiring.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

I love hearing about student's homestay experiences. Those are always the best, because you can really tell that they got immersed in the culture.
