Sydney Jenkins is the Marketing Assistant for World Endeavors. Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, her need to travel and explore stems from an academic year spent studying in France. She is thrilled to be working for an organization whose employees share a like-minded view on the importance of international education!

What position do you hold at World Endeavors? What has been your career path so far?

I am the Marketing Assistant here at World Endeavors. After graduating from college, I traveled for about a year and then started searching for work in international education. After a short stint working in international finance at a community college in Seattle, I joined the World Endeavors team. I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of such a dynamic team in the field I love!

Did YOU study abroad?! If so, where and what inspired you to go?

Yes! I spent my junior year abroad in Paris, France studying international business and French. I was inspired by older sisters who had traveled abroad during their time in school, and I knew I wanted to study abroad before I even graduated high school.

I will always think of that year in Paris as a pivotal stepping stone in my life, particularly in terms of personal growth and development. It truly did change my life, and led me down the path to pursue a career in international education.

What does the future hold for World Endeavors - any exciting new programs to share?

In the past year, World Endeavors has launched 20 new programs! We added to existing locations such as Vietnam, but also increased our range with new programs in Israel, Morocco, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and more!

Exciting things are on the horizon for World Endeavors! We are ever-expanding and looking forward to what the future holds here and with international education as a whole.

What about the future of the industry? How do you think study abroad and international education will change over the next 10 years?

We are living in an increasingly globalized economy, and that is huge for international education! Students are becoming much more aware of the impact that an international experience will have on their resume and their abilities in the workplace. Those who have developed multicultural awareness are going to be regarded much more highly than the rest.

Ten years from now, my hope is that choosing to study or intern abroad will be the norm, not the exception. We will continue to see an increase in options for fields such as STEM majors and other degrees that currently find it difficult to study abroad.

What unique qualities does your company possess?

There is so much heart here at World Endeavors, and I believe that’s obvious from the first moment of contact with any of our employees. Each of us has spent time abroad, and those experiences have made us incredibly passionate about what we are doing.

We’re really proud of our programs and our participants. All of our intern and volunteer programs are completely customizable. We don’t have projects set aside, which means everything is unique and personalized to each individual participant. We take into account an applicant’s interests, skills, and goals for his or her program and work to find the best, most applicable placement.
