Awful host family

My daughter was in the camp this year . She is 13 . She was placed in this horrible host family. The woman was around 53 . My daughter told me her son around 20 was living with her she has 2 rooms to host the girls. My daughter told me she was horrible. She wouldn’t allow to drink water at night and it was very hot no air conditioning. She had one bathroom for 5 girls her and the son .
I gave her a bag with snicks the woman just took it and did not allowed to tach it. She would give them just a bread for breakfast.
The bank bed was so low that it was very difficult to breathe.
She wouldn’t take them any were . They would stay at home all the time.
My daughter come so stressed.
For my money!!! The camp it not cheat.!!!!!

What would you improve about this program?
The host family Laetitia Marcos shouldn’t be a host .

Excellent French Exam Preparation in supportive and friendly school

I have been to LSF three times now during 2014 and 2015 and have worked my way up through the DELF B2 and DALF C1 exams with their help. The standard of teaching is very high and the ambience in the classroom supportive and enjoyable. Each time I went to the school I put in place a specific class in the afternoon (after the standard morning classes) to help me with my exam preparation. These helped enormously and a lot of progress can be made in a very short time. The teachers are also supported by a friendly wider team who organise a range of optional activities and excursions throughout the week and at weekends (as well as accomodation with french families) and really care that you have enjoyed your time with them. The school is perfectly situated with a garden and terrace right next to the Porte Peyrou and Palais de Justice in the centre of Montpellier - a perfect location in an interesting and attractive city. I really cannot recommend LSF highly enough and will be bringing my family back for a more relaxed stay now I have done my exams!

"Best 3 weeks of my life"

We sent our 3 on the LSF course in the summer of 2013. They enjoyed it so much, and their French was so improved, that we repeated the experience in July 2014. The "best 3 weeks of my life" comment was really made by our daughter, and her siblings readily agreed. Although the programme is expensive, the care shown to the children throughout their stay was excellent.

Everything was Perfect!

LSF has by far exceeded any expectations I had. From the first day I arrived they offered an introductory tour of Montpellier and everyday since they have different activities and tours to sign up for. The teachers are amazing and keep you interacting throughout the entire class. The teachers make the effort to know you on a personal level where you are able to talk and make jokes and it creates an environment where you feel comfortable. The quality of teaching is amazing and they make sure you feel comfortable in the level of class they place you. My friend was quite sick for a week and the teachers were very concerned as well as the other students, and the teachers and admin were more than helpful. They gave recommendations for doctors, they offered to translate with the doctor if needed and constantly asked for updates to make sure she was improving. They are magnificent and make you feel apart of the school.
The cooking part of the course was just as great. There is no more than 6 or 7 people per class so everyone is incorporated to the course and are constantly working. It is great because you create unique dishes and expand your knowledge on local cuisine. It is also helpful to improve your french as the class is in french. The Chef is so kind and extremely knowledgable. Again, it is very personable and we are able to make jokes and have a great time.
The host family which I was placed in is amazing! They are friendly and so kind hearted! It forces you to use your french when you stay with a host family and really integrate yourself into the culture and lifestyle. They are extremely family oriented and we always love to see their grandchildren and everyone! We get along so well and our host mom is an amazing chef. I like them so much I decided to stay another week.

What would you improve about this program?
They had plenty of activities and a few local activities but it would be nice to have even more activities that integrate us with the local community,

awesome language school with very personal atmosphere

I really enjoyed my three months stay in Montpellier. During this time I could improve my French immensely. During most of my stay I had great teachers even though I must say not all teachers had the same quality.I lived in a student residence which was in walking distance to the school, my room has been small but clean, I had my own bathroom and a very small kitchen. I felt very save most of the time.
All teachers and staff have been very welcoming and always helpful. The school organized great afternoon or weekend activities which helped to get to know the French culture.
During my stay I met very interesting people with who I could have interesting talks and very funny evenings. I especially enjoyed the atmosphere in class and after class in and around the language school.

What would you improve about this program?
It was very hard to meet French students so I would have liked to have a possibility to meet some more French students currently living in Montpellier.

What position do you hold at LSF Montpellier? What has been your career path so far?

I’m the Marketing Coordinator at LSF. I started working at this language school a couple of years ago during my studies and continued to work at LSF after graduating. I love working in the international environment of a language school where you get to interact with people from all over the world on a regular basis. And I’ll admit, being located in the south of France doesn’t hurt either!

Did YOU study abroad?

Well… Yes and no. While I haven’t studied abroad in the sense of following a program at a school or college in another country, I have studied, while being abroad. I’ll explain:

While studying at the university in Sweden I had the possibility to study from “home” during a few courses. Having a passion for travel, I took this opportunity to make the abroad my “home”, and simply followed the courses while living abroad. I spent most of this time living in France and in Canada. Although the time difference at times meant having to pass exams or test during the middle of the night, it was definitely worth it.

What does the future hold for LSF - any exciting new programs to share?

One program that is proving more and more popular is our French & Cooking program. This course provides a fun combination of studying French language and having French cooking classes.

In the morning, students follow French language classes that are adapted to their language level, from the complete beginner of French to the advanced. These are fun and interactive classes where students progress in all aspects of the language. In the afternoon, the students have French cooking classes during which they learn how to cook various traditional French dishes and learn about French gastronomy. The cooking classes are led by a real French chef in a professional cooking school with a warm and friendly atmosphere.

During both the French classes and the Cooking classes there is a great mix of nationalities and students make new friends from all over the world. It is a really unique way to discover both the French language and the world-renowned French cuisine.

What about the future of the industry? How do you think study abroad and international education will change over the next 10 years?

I think living and studying abroad is an amazing experience that attracts most of the people that get exposed to the idea. With advances in technology it keeps getting easier for students to both find information about interesting programs abroad and to enroll in them. It’s also possible to get more dynamic insights into the experience today through for example social media. Improvements in technology have also provided an increased awareness of other countries and cultures. It’s easier to connect with other people and to get exposed to other cultures. I believe technology continuing to improve, coupled with new markets opening up and continuing to grow, will mean that we’ll see both a more diverse nationality mix going abroad to study, but also an increased number of destinations to study abroad in.

Which country do you think is an underrated study abroad destination? Conversely, do you think there is a country which is overrated?

It’s very tough to think of an overrated destination, but I can tell you about an underrated one: Montpellier, France! When most people think of studying abroad in France, they immediately picture Paris. But there are many other wonderful destinations within France and Montpellier is a real gem! Montpellier is a vibrant city in the south of France and has been the fastest growing in France for years for a reason. Montpellier is the perfect blend of the old and the new: A beautiful historical city center with many charming boutiques, cafés and bars in medieval alleyways and modern buildings, shopping complexes and communications connecting the city with the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean Sea. With about 1/3 of the population being students, Montpellier has tons to offer international students. A fantastic, but not always obvious, destination to study abroad in France!
