Our favorite Netherland blogs:
24 Organges
By Natasha: 24 oranges is a Netherlands-based, English-language blog about anything Dutch. We post anything that’s fun, interesting, weird, cool, and otherwise unique. Look at the Netherlands through (near) native eyes. This is where we blog about something else than tourist and expat information.
A Flamingo in Utrecht
By Alison: I’m Alison, a thirty-something woman from the southern US, who now finds herself in the Netherlands, thanks to an Italian boyfriend. Why not!
A Touch of Dutch
By Isabella: I'm Isabella, an American who's lived abroad in the Netherlands, and this blog is simply a peek at my thoughts of what it was like to learn the language, how I got around & a taste of the expat life. I hope this blog can be of some help to anyone who is curious about how it is to experience living in the Netherlands. Please see the blog disclaimer at the bottom of the sidebar on my blog for further information. If you wish to ask any questions, please do so in the comments in either English or Dutch. Keep in mind that I moderate the comments and it may take some time for me to respond.
Invading Holland
By Stuart: I'm an Englishman in his early 30s with a well documented reputation for accident proneness and bizarre situation finding. I moved to Holland in the summer of 2001 to start working as a designer in the computer games industry. Originally this was only supposed to be a stay of sixth months but the tempting lure of lekkere bitterballen and good beer has turned it into a much longer stay.
Clogs and Tulips
By Tiffany: Originally from Maryland, USA, I met a Dutchman (referred to as B throughout the blog) through mutual friends of ours back in 2007. One thing led to another and now here I am living my life as an American expat in the Netherlands. My dog Turner has trailed along, and is now a proud exPET.
Maastricht Minutiae
By Amanda: Maastricht Minutiae was born from my desire to share our experience with friends and family and my perceived lack of support in the Maastricht region for expats. Many Americans have the perception that the Netherland is just Amsterdam. Maastricht Minutiae is here to dispel that myth and contribute to English language resources for expats in my adopted city. Fortunately, around the time we moved to Maastricht, there was a revival of attention paid towards local expats and foreigners and Several Other Resources have since cropped up.
Outside Looking In
By Jules: Life of an ex-pat, with cats. A whimsical, sometimes funny, occasionally informative, blog about life in the not-the-Randstad Netherlands.
Orangesplaash
By : Orangesplaash is an expat and travel blog. Living as an Expat is all together a different experience, as any expat will vouch for. This experience evokes mixed reactions in an individual that range from euphoria on discovering something new to loneliness on being a foreigner in a new land. In between these, is a wide canvas of emotions which I have aimed to bring forth in this blog.
Random Walks in Low Countries
By Dave: I do have a real life beyond this journal, filled with thoughts of science, philosophy, travel, and art. I enjoy conversation and exploration of ideas and experiences with thoughtful people of all sorts. By turns active and reflective, I am usually fully engaged in balancing work, relationships, and personal interests. At best, postings on this site will be intermittent and secondary to the rest of my life. But I am finding that it is increasingly important for me to reflect on the experiences that I am having. Initially this series will focus on the expatriate experience, and it may grow or wither from there.
Like a Sponge
By Marianne: I’m Marianne and I write about Dutch, speaking Dutch, living in Holland and what it means to live in Holland. I’ve lived in the Netherlands for over 12 years and speak Dutch in my everyday life. When I first started writing about Dutch, what it is to speak Dutch and living in Holland, I thought I spoke fluent Dutch. The more I write about it the more I become aware of mistakes I make and things I didn’t know. Although slightly disconcerting, this is also very good because it means that whereas for a long time my Dutch stayed at a similar level it is now finally improving.

Adventures in Expatland
By Linda: Living abroad and sharing the good, the less good and the just plain odd.Only with a twist. I chronicle making a new life in a new place, sharing stories and insights of the mundane and exciting, boring and different, funny and not so funny. And finding the upside. Well, usually.
