Rating & Reviews Explained
At Go Overseas the reviewer is King. We couldn’t help our users choose among thousands of different options without you. Your invaluable knowledge will be passed on to future generations and your name will become synonymous with insightful commentary the world over. Too much pressure? Here are some tips to help you craft the best review money can buy (not OUR money mind you).
For Reviewers:
- Be detailed. Specific reviews tell a story that someone can relate to. Example: Instead of saying “I had a great time” tell us why you had a great time.
- Be honest. People reading your review will be making life-altering decisions, so drop some knowledge on them. Remember how you felt before leaving for your overseas experience?
- Be objective. Take a step back to judge your program with some perspective. Include the highlights and the challenges.
- If you are an employee of the organization/program provider you’re about to review, turn back now, karma is a beast. Also, we can see your IP address and take down suspect reviews.
- Thanks again, you’re helping make the world a better place (brush your shoulders off).
PS. Keep it Clean: We reserve the right to remove any reviews that are inappropriate.
For Users (if you’re here to read reviews this means you):
Congrats! You’ve come to the best place in the world to get inside info on overseas programs, from people who have been on the programs themselves. You can also learn about the countries you’re considering, learn from our “Top Bloggers” on the ground, peruse some local pictures, pick between thousands of programs, and then apply to the one that looks like the best for you. If you’re thinking, “Wow the Go Overseas team does a lot” you’re right. We do it all for you, lucky, so do us a solid and come back soon.
For Everyone:
The Math: The “Overall Rating” shown in each program box on a country page and again at the top of the graph on an individual program page is NOT an average of all the sub-categories. It is just an average of the “overall rating” given by each user for that program. Each subcategory is an average of each review provided for that program. For example, if two people review the “safety” of a program, one giving a “2” and the other an “8”, the average “safety” rating would be “5”. Each individual review can be viewed by clicking on the “+” symbol in the upper right hand corner of each review.
