Holbrook Travel's 13-day Natural and Cultural Wonders study abroad program in Kenya takes students on a journey around the African country from Nairobi to Masai Mara. The first day should begin on a Friday with a pick up at the airport and transfer to the hotel. A $50 entrance visa is required for all participants to enter the country, which is purchased upon arrival. The program then gives students a chance to meet and learn from local handlers of baby and adolescent elephants, along with cheetahs and lions, as well as an introduction to local foods. At night, students will pick a specific animal to study for the remainder of the trip.
Day 4 takes students to Lake Elementaita, but on their way, students will visit the Giraffe Center, where they can feed the animals and learn about them. At night, students will meet their first traditional Maasai, and learn of the Lake's significance to the history of their people. The remainder of the trip takes students to Lake Nakuru, Lake Naivasha and to Masai Mara, before returning to Nairobi on day 12. Students will continue learning of the local culture and wildlife, including other animals like monkeys, zebras, warthogs and more. Departure from the international airport is on Day 13.
