Refreshing very rusty TESOL skills?

Hi All,

I obtained a TESOL certfiicate in December 2008 with the aim of teaching in Latin America. Fast forward to present day and I'm still stuck in London working my regular 9-5 job.

I'm finally leaving for my long haul trip in November, but I won't be scouting for ESL work until mid-2011.
This makes a gap of 30 months between teacher training and entrance to the workforce which leaves me with an undesirably rusty mental bank of knowledge and skills.

I'm tossing up ideas to help get back my teaching mojo, any feedback from Teachers would be greatly appreciated! I will be on the road for 7 months before reaching my final (teaching) destination.

Take up a short online course - waste of money or worthwhile?
Take my TESOL notes with me and routinely revise
Offer free private lessons to random English students that I may encounter on my travels
Load my iPod Touch with podcasts and videos - not sure what's out there
Study TESOL books - any suggestions?

Cheers,

rhythmbug

Hi rhythmbug, i-to-i hold 20 Hour classroom courses in London every couple of weeks - they could be just the thing for your situation. Find out more about them here: http://www.onlinetefl.com/tefl-courses/combined-tefl-courses-20.html

You can refresh your skills

You can refresh your skills at http://www.TEFLBootCamp.com/ where much of the TEFL training is free. It should be enough to refresh your skills.
