About Program

Explore the wonders of Thailand and Teach English to school children at the same time!

Join our team in Thailand to teach English to children in primary and secondary school. Our volunteers will have the opportunity to meet and interact with the locals, who will also increase their English profficiency. Volunteers will be taken to school around the town of Surin to assist the school in their English classes from Monday - Friday.

Volunteers will prepare lessons according to the syllabus and create plans that are both fun and interesting for the children. On weekends and evenings, volunteers have free time to explore the town and other famous destinations in Thailand.

Impact

Ethical Impact

We have seen an increasing number of sea turtle nests at the beaches in Perhentian from 2008 when just 254 nests to 554 in 2023. We have trained over 20 villagers in scuba and conservation skills and they now join us on a daily rate wage to help remove ghost nets and other conservation actions. We have raised in just 2023 over RM100,000 for the local community at Lembah Subang Low Cost housing area.

Great Experience

When I first saw the advert to teach English as a volunteer in Thailand, I was a bit apprehensive
because it meant that I would be arriving in a foreign country on my own. I need not have worried
because June the Volunteer Organiser met me and she was so friendly and quickly put me at ease.

We travelled to Surin the following day to the volunteer accommodation. The house is lovely, it's only
about three years old, very modern with lovely wet rooms. June the Volunteer Organiser only lives 3 minutes walk away. In the evening we would go to June's house or she would bring us home cooked
food. The food was lovely and June is an amazing cook. June did everything to make my trip as
worthwhile as possible and would take me out in the evening to sample the area's attractions.

Each day the volunteers would be driven to the school where we were teaching. The Director and
the teachers of the school made you feel most welcome and had great respect for you.
The teaching wasn't difficult and the children were most respectful. They really enjoyed the lessons
and the input from foreign teachers.

I would recommend volunteering to teach English to everyone. It's such a worthwhile experience and
I am so pleased that I did it and will never forget the wonderful children that I taught
