Berkeley, CA (cannot be remote)

Responsibilities

Community Management

  • Develop, own and execute community strategy for Go Overseas
  • Be the user advocate at Go Overseas—talk to customers and be the voice of the customer when decisions are made at the company
  • Grow adoption of community features (e.g. wishlist, Q&A) and lead product development of new features
  • Manage the [email protected] account and respond to emails from users
  • Moderate and respond to community content (blog comments, website Q&A)
  • Own NPS score tracking and other community analytics

Social Media

  • Manage social media accounts (select photos, write copy, respond to messages and comments)
  • Grow social media following
  • Experiment with new social formats and content ideas

Email Marketing

  • Manage Mailchimp and Mandrill accounts
  • Create community and client newsletters and drip campaigns
  • Create, test and analyze results for transactional emails
  • Lead email marketing for scholarship campaigns and contests

Photo Curation

  • Find and select photos for articles, website and social media
  • Ensure image consistency across site
  • Develop and manage creative programs for acquiring new photos

Additional

  • Write copy for website as needed
  • Assist with branding and website updates
  • Organize and manage some of our scholarships, contests and social campaigns
  • Help prepare for industry conferences (marketing materials, swag, social media, etc.)

Requirements

Must-haves

  • Empathy for the user—cares intensely about helping more people live and travel overseas
  • Excellent copywriting skills—able to effortless write in a friendly, helpful voice
  • Strong design sensibility—great at curating high quality photos; able to design emails that read well and look amazing
  • Basic graphic design skills—knowledge of Canva or Photoshop
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter—someone who considers “problems” creative opportunities to find new solutions
  • College degree

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with social media marketing, email marketing and/or paid social advertising
  • Previous experience at a fast-paced startup
  • Strong interest in international travel
  • Creative—loves coming up with new ideas and then executing them
  • Enthusiastic—possesses a curious, go-getter attitude
  • Flexible—happy to help with whatever needs to get done, even if it’s not in this job description
  • Ability to understand and communicate user issues back to the team
  • Loves working on a team and forming relationships with coworkers
