Can you come home for holidays while teaching overseas?

I'm sure it depends on the country that you choose to teach in! A friend of mine taught in Spain and had plenty of time to come home for Christmas, but that's because the school was on break. Check the traditional school calendars of the areas you're hoping to teach in!

In China, usually teachers in China don't get more than one day off for Christmas unless you work in an international school. I would check with your company or school and see. When I taught abroad in a Chinese public high school I only received Christmas day off and couldn't go home, but now that I work as a college counselor in an agency, I was able to use my vacation days to go home.
