About

Now you have the chance to stay in Japan for up to one year, doing fully remunerated jobs. Typical Working Holiday jobs include jobs at restaurants, cafés, shops, nanny & au pair, English teacher, sports instructor, light factory work, farms, hotels etc.

We help you with the visa application, arrange affordable accommodation for you, do all the formalities with you (immigration, resident registration, tax number, bank account, mobile phone contract, etc.) and of course help you to find a job once you are in Tokyo. With our help, almost all participants find a job within 2-4 weeks. Our English and Japanese-speaking coordinators in Tokyo are there to assist you with whatever you need help with during your full year in Japan.

This program is only open to nationalities who can get a Working Holiday Visa for Japan (see list of countries below). It is currently NOT available for US Americans (please see notes for US citizens and other nationalities below).

Clean climate footprint when travelling with World Unite!

Did you know that for the CO2 compensation of your long-haul flights we are planting 10 indigenous trees on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania for each participant of our worldwide programs? These trees during their life will absorb around 10 times the amount of CO2 emitted by your flights. Per year we are planting around 20,000 trees on deforested land of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Questions & Answers

From our experience (we have started this program in July 2015 and have had around 1000 participants so far), it was possible for everyone who was seriously interested in finding a job to find a job within the first month. Even without any knowledge of Japanese, you can find jobs, but the options might be more limited. We advise participants to learn some basic Japanese prior to their arrival in...

Best Experience

This year helped me very much to develop myself . Every day is a challenge for you in a new city but it helps to grow your personality very much. You have to find out how the city works and how the mentality of the people is. Once you found out you will discover the beauty of Tokyo ,a wonderful and safe city that has a lot to offer!
I can only recommend everyone to do a gap year in Japan, it could change your life!

What would you improve about this program?
More intensive help for people who didn’t get a job after a few weeks yet and who become sad about it.
Response from World Unite!

Dear Mey,
thank you for your positive review!
Our office in central Tokyo is open every weekday and all participants of our program can just walk in and get 1-to-1 support with finding a job from our team members Julia, Nina and Stephanie. Alternatively, participants can call us, email, or use whatsapp or line to get in touch with us during their full year in Japan. There is no reason to become sad! If you know of any participant who needs a job, please tell the person not to be shy and contact us.
