This expedition is an exciting voyage in a remarkable country. You’ll spend 14 days in the Marlborough Sounds in the upper South Island of New Zealand learning to sail 35 to 40-foot keelboats. This course focuses on sailing skills, seamanship, and leadership. Your instructors will cover a comprehensive yacht coastal cruising curriculum. As you rotate through essential roles on the sailboat, and your leadership will develop as you take on increased responsibility.
This course will also introduce you to the natural history of the area, and you may have opportunities to visit historical sites important to the indigenous Maori of New Zealand and early European explorers, such as Captain Cook. Whether from the vessel or during short hikes into coastal hills, you and your coursemates will spot unique wildlife and experience an incredible country.
