This program is designed to provide students with real work experience while enjoying one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The Florida State University first opened its doors in Florence in 1966, the year of the Great Flood. Many students helped save important works of art damaged by the flood. To thank the students, the Florida State Florence Program was given a key to the city. This initial union between Florida State and the City of Florence created a special relationship that has grown stronger over the years. As a result, the Florida State Florence Program is able to provide outstanding internship opportunities in one of the world's most magnificent cities, renowned for its glorious cultural history. Placements are made on a case-by-case basis and potentially can be found in a large variety of fields. Past interns have been placed in positions with prestigious art museums and galleries.
