Since I was a child I always knew that one day I had to travel to India explore this amazing country and mostly to do some volunteer work. And then suddenly I got one of these - one in a lifetime gap - where I could fulfill this dream. My choice felt on Cecowor because of their commitment for - amongst other - poor people, woman and children's living condition. And mostly because they not only think and work for these people conditions but more important involve them in different projects where needed.

Why did you decide to volunteer with Cecowore in India?
Describe your day to day activities as a volunteer.
At Cecowor I took part in the daily life at the school which also involved to pick up the children in the surrounding rural communities but also taking part in the teaching. Developing a herbal garden was also one of my daily chores. Now and then some of the staff had time to take me around in the absolutely stunning area to say hello to people, which gave me a chance to tell about Denmark and more than once I was invited into a family's house for a treat.
What made this experience unique and special?
To get the opportunity to live and work with these very wise and wonderful people who opened their homes and took me into their hearts in a very natural way has really touched my life and soul in a very positive way.
Unfortunately I got sick during my stay at Cecowor but the staff handled the situation very professional and brought me to the hospital where I quickly recovered and all the way I felt very safe and in good hands.
I highly recommend a volunteer stay at Cecowor in all aspects.
How has this experience impacted your future?
It has for sure made my horizons wider and my understanding of Indian living, culture and religion has made me think about how we live our lives in the western World - our values, how we treat each other, our loss of religion and what impact it all have on people in the third World!
