Staff Spotlight: Hanna Friess

Title::
Sales and Marketing Coordinator
Hanna graduated from Ohio University in 2011 with a degree in Organizational Communications with related areas in Marketing and Management. Her time there included a study abroad program in London, where she got the chance to intern with E! Entertainment. After graduating she still had the travel bug, so ventured to Australia (through BUNAC) for a year of exploring and working abroad. Since returning home, she relocated to Phoenix for a job where she can help others achieve their travel dreams.

Did YOU study/work abroad?! If so, where and what inspired you to go?

Hanna: I studied abroad in London my senior year. I had outgrown my small college town and wanted to gain more professional experience. I found a program in London (ideal for me, since learning other languages has never been easy for me) that combined classes and an internship.

I met so many amazing people, got to truly experience the British culture, and was able to travel during and after around Europe. I was also there for the Royal Wedding, which was an unforgettable experience.

What language have you always wanted to learn and why?

Hanna: I come from a family that speaks Spanish, French, Bulgarian, Swedish and a little German, but, as mentioned before, languages have never been my strong suit. I would want to learn Spanish because I would love to spend time in Spain and it would come in handy here in Arizona.

What position do you hold at BUNAC? What has been your career path so far?

Hanna: I am the sales and marketing coordinator for BUNAC. Before this I have worked at a public relations company, a law firm, Yelp, and spent a year abroad in Australia working at restaurants and hostels. I’ve jumped around quite a bit, but finally feel like I have found the perfect position!

What country have you always wanted to visit?

Hanna: There are so many, but right now my top choice would be Italy. I am a huge foodie and love Italian food so would probably eat my way through Italy. I have been to Venice, but would love to spend time in Rome, Florence and Milan.
