JOB CRITERIA
- Bachelor degree in TESOL, English, Applied Linguistics or Education
- CELTA, TESOL,or TEFL certification
- Minimum 3 year of teaching experience in English Language programs (ESL/EFL) for non-english speaker in various age groups
- Computer Literate – Microsoft Office suites, Internet ability
- Must be a native English speaker
- Experience in assessment and curriculum development
- Experience in supervision and/or coordination of school activities
- Specialization in any of the following areas: assessment, leadership, teacher training, reading, writing, speaking, listening

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful applicant will be expected to take on the responsibility of the Person-in-charge/HOD for Hawthorn English. S/he will contribute to the teaching and development of courses at Hawthorn Language School.

Teaching Duties:
- Prepare and deliver lessons, tutorials and remedial classes according to the course syllabus
- Mark all coursework and assessment papers
- Schedule, prepare, moderate and mark examinations
- Assist in the development of new courses, design & revision of course curriculum with appropriate advice from and support of more senior staff
- Provide necessary supervision to/and consultation with students
- If suitable, you shall also be deployed to teach under other courses.
- Perform a range of administrative functions as the HOD
- Co-ordinate and participate in activities related to student orientation and extracurricular activities
- Conduct placement interviews and assess levels of incoming students
- Take part in marketing events as they occur.
- Carry out any other extra duties assigned from time to time by the Academic Director or COO

PIC / HOD Duties:
- Recruitment of teachers Hawthorn
- Conduct induction and sharing of guidelines, resources and good practices to teachers
- Observe lesson and share pointers for improvement or peer learning
- Evaluate teachers' performance during the appraisal review
- Attend meetings and address queries pertaining to Hawthorn matters; participate in discussion on other academic matters as required
- Collate feedback from teachers for students’ performance and any actions for adverse passing rates for any level
- Coordinate the excursion and review the excursion worksheets.
- Provide feedback about teachers, classes or students. Provide feedback on the course content or materials.
- Assist in assigning levels to the teachers.
- Help to address any daily operational matters relating to Hawthorn.
- Review and update the Certificate in English’s Course Master Document for Academic Board approval when there are changes in the course/level.
- Design and develop appropriate lesson outline for English courses requested by clients.
