Job Description

Ascend International School, a newly established progressive school in Mumbai, India, is currently searching for an Music Specialist Teacher for Primary and Middle School. The philosophy at AIS centers around inquiry, innovation and offering big ideas to our students. Thus our faculty is required to generate high level, interactive and creative curricula even at the primary levels.

Our kids love to invent, create and explore. Were looking for a Music Specialist who would be excited to work collaboratively with other specialists and classroom teachers to design projects that incorporate various areas of classroom study and excite childrens interest in creating working solutions for real world problems. The Music Specialist should be passionate about art. He or she will be expected to generate high level, interactive and creative curricula not typically associated with primary schools.

The Educational philosophy at Ascend International School is inspired by University Child Development School in Seattle, Washington. The school is accredited by the International Baccalaureate (IB) for its Primary Years Program (PYP.) The middle school is inspired by PBL and is currently in the accreditation process for the IB Middle Years Program (MYP.) Candidates should be interested in cultivating deep cross-cultural collaborations, individualizing instruction in multi-age classrooms and developing innovative curricula.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree and/or experience in music or comparable degree
• Instructional experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Curricula planning experience
• Experience working students ages 3-16

Teaching positions begin in July of the academic year. Travel and relocation stipends are provided, on-site and off-site apartments are available, and salary and benefit packages are commensurate with international school compensation.
