North Cross School is partnering with two institutions abroad in order to offer their high school students an educational experience modeled after that of an American independent school. We aim to prepare non-American students to excel in an American university setting. Students earn dual diplomas, and most will pursue higher education in the United States.

Located on 77 acres in Roanoke, VA, North Cross School is an independent, coeducational, college-preparatory school in its 70th year of providing the best teaching available in Southwest Virginia. Serving students as young as 3 all the way through to high school graduation, North Cross strives to promote in every student personal integrity and responsibility to the greater community. Upper School students are encouraged to pursue academic, athletic and artistic achievement, which results in opportunities for placement at many of the nation’s top universities.

Created 15 years ago in the Zhabei District of Shanghai, China, Xinhe Middle School quickly developed a reputation for educational excellence. Its partnership with North Cross School is now in its third year, and North Cross Xinhe graduates already have gained admission to highly competitive universities such as UVA, UC Irvine, Mount Holyoke, SCAD, Bard College, Franklin and Marshall, Boston College, Purdue, and Ohio State. North Cross Xinhe’s curriculum is centered on a rigorous Advanced Placement course sequence, and students enjoy a more robust athletic and extracurricular life than is typical in Chinese schools. Most instruction is in English.

Xie He You De was founded in 1963 in the heart of Taipei, Taiwan, and in addition to a regular high school, offers some of the most highly regarded technical and professional training in Taiwan. The new partnership between North Cross and Xie He You De will accept its first students for the 2018 – 19 school year. Its innovative curriculum will focus on Global Leadership, Environmental Studies, Design Thinking, Language and Culture, and on the development of the whole person. Most instruction will be in English.

We seek dynamic teachers excited about the prospects of living and working abroad, and about collaborating closely with cosmopolitan teams of talented teachers from a wide range of countries. Candidates should be enthusiastic about developing new programs and contributing to rapidly growing international collaborations. We have particular need for teachers prepared to teach English language and literature, SAT and TOEFL preparation, History, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, and Global Studies. We seek teachers for both the Taipei and Shanghai campuses.

Teaching certification plus two years of teaching experience. Master’s degree preferred. ESL training or experience strongly preferred. Enthusiasm and adaptability a must!
