An eye opening experience

As my first time living abroad going to England taught me quite a few things. Like how to navigate a foreign country and how to make my own travel plans. If I were to do it again I think I would have wanted to do an Asain country because I felt that England was very similar to America in many respects. I absolutely loved the people I worked with, and the people on my program. I know I enjoyed my internship, but it can be hit or miss as some students disliked theirs. It can also get a bit expensive so do be prepared for that.

What would you improve about this program?
The housing situation was a little weird about halfway through our program we had to move to a different loft.

Best Internship Experince

From the start till the end it was a very wonderful experience both professionally and socially.
I had the time of my life because I made lifetime friends and the vibrant city of Manchester was a wonderful city with lots of events and activities to do.
The internship program had quite a number of events and activities that were worthwhile and very educational like charity walks and volunteering opportunities which is good for your resume.
Thank you CRCC ASIA for a lifetime experience..... Andrea you made it happen.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would have increased the time, instead of a two months internship program period even six months would have been better.

An experience that I will cherish forever

I cannot say enough great things about the time I spent in Manchester, England. There is nothing that I would change about the quality of my internship placement, the support I received from CRCC Asia, friends that I made while abroad, and the amazing city that I got to explore. Manchester, England will always hold a special place in my heart and I hope to return and hopefully move to permanently someday! My internship was at a mental health charity where I focused on their social media, updating their website and creating a communication strategy.

What would you improve about this program?
There isn't much that I would change about the program. The only thing that I think of that could be better was the housing. It wasn't the most comfortable but the location couldn't be better. The pros and cons are about even, so overall there isn't much that I would change about my experience.

As the old saying goes, "Manchester’s got everything except a beach."

I had the opportunity to attend two back-to-back internships in the UK. One was during the summer of 2018 with the help of another internship company and last summer of 2019 with CRCC Asia. While both were vastly different in both location and work environments I truly felt more taken care of with CRCC Asia. Everything from the process of obtaining a visa to being picked up at the airport, to receiving a fun weekly itinerary was very smooth and was provided seamlessly in advance. Once settled in the CRCC team quickly accommodated all of the interns (which have now become some of my best friends) into our living quarters and gave us a very well informed orientation of Manchester such as awesome tourist attractions and even some of the city's best-kept secrets. With an inspiring weekly commute through the city center, I took every opportunity I could to walk on foot and explore Manchester's industrialized historic parts as well as it's surrounding modern campus university. As for the internship itself, I have a great time exploring the corporate world of the fashion industry and was able to work directly under my supervisor who was the CEO where I was able to gain an incredible amount of knowledge that I would have definitely struggled to obtain anywhere else. One key takeaway that I learned while in Manchester without sounding too cliche is to really make the most out of every opportunity because it will be over before you know it.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
The transportation system is good in its own right but honestly its more enjoyable to walk.

EMERGE Internship/Placement Experience

My internship experience with EMERGE last summer is one of the best experience I have ever had in my life! As a project intern with EMERGE, I engaged with two vital development issues: environmental sustainability and food security. At EMERGE Recycling, I designed and conducted customer satisfaction surveys for over 400 clients in order to assess confidential paper shredding and waste collection services, thereby bringing about better resource management and promoting 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) within the wider community. I also collaborated with colleagues at FareShare Greater Manchester (part of EMERGE) on their community food redistribution initiative to tackle food waste and food poverty in and around Manchester.

An once in a lifetime experience with amazing job prospects

My time in Manchester was an incredible experience that I will remember forever. Meeting and networking with new people from all over the world and gaining first hand business experience in my desired field was an invaluable opportunity that will assist me post-graduation in being employment ready. Weekends provided me with an amazing opportunity to travel as Manchester is less than 2 hours away by train to most of the United Kingdom's other major cities like Liverpool, York, Edinburgh and London. Furthermore, the program staff at CRCC Asia where extremely helpful and no problem was ever too much for them to rectify. Additionally, I was fortunate enough to even be offered full-time employment with the business I interned with after graduating in 2020.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Take part in all the additional activities operated by CRCC Asia, enjoy every moment of the trip and don't underestimate the value in having friends from overseas or other universities.
