Great Teaching Environment

The school i work at is one of the better ones in Taiwan. We have a Kindergarten as well as an ESL Program. I feel i am very lucky to have two co-teachers in the classroom at all times as well as constant support from our foreign English director as well as the Taiwanese one. I thoroughly enjoy working at this school as it offers some of the best facilities and a very up to date way of thinking when it comes to young ones education. The idea is learning through discovery, and the with a theme based curriculum it never gets boring for you or the students. We have four themes a year, 3 months each with guidelines for the first month and then you follow the students interests and explore that further.

I never felt as though i was thrown in the deep end at any points. There is always training and assistance when needed. This being an arts school you would expect a lot of music, arts and performance which they have as well as sports all geared towards giving the students the best possible experience. NO expense is spared.

The food is healthy, which inevitably makes it tasteless in my opinion but vegetarians will be over the moon as meat is only served once a week. As i said before there is constant training before you start as well as throughout the year. The courses are intense at times and with flowchart meetings and three campus idea sharing meetings you become quite involved. The school also has an annual showcase for prospective students parents as well as to show what the students have learnt for the year. The same applies for the ESL department although this is twice a year.

Being this involved in a school often makes you think is this really necessary for Kindergarten and young learners. Do we we need university professors to come in and discuss new ways of learning? Why all the day long meetings and training and prop making and sharing? The work load is intense but rewarding. I like the school but if you're looking to come to Taiwan for a gap year or just to have a little break, this isn't the school for you. You work, hard, and there are a lot of after hours activities that you are required to attend. A very healthy pay check does comfort you at the end of the month.
