About Program

The Berkeley SIT TESOL Certificate Course is a 130-hour introduction to teaching English to speakers of other languages. The course is held over a 3-month period (12 weeks). We have teaching practice on Thursday evenings (6-10pm) and workshops all day on Saturdays (9am-6pm). Workshops, lesson planning, teaching, observation and feedback sessions form the core of the experience along with reading and written assignments. The course is designed using experiential learning theory and focuses on hands-on teaching skills, language awareness and reflective practice. Berkeley LTC is a licensed centered of the SIT Graduate Institute, which has one of the oldest and most respected MA TESOL programs in the country. The program is accredited and participants can apply for graduate credit.
