About Program
Practice and apply your expertise in medicine or health care through this volunteering program in Colombia. Focused on Community Health, which deals largely with the health of population groups rather than individual patients, this program can be a rotation experience, internship, or volunteering (depending on your experience level).
On a single week, you can experience up to 3 different work sites or areas: HMO, Traditional Medicine at an Herbal Shop, Public Health Campaigns, Regional Hospitals & Clinics, Retirement Home & Hospice, Pediatrics, Youth Sports, Emergency Medicine, etc.
Considering which rotation you choose, day-to-day duties and projects are varied. But you will mostly shadow and assist local specialists; assist with the development of information materials for public awareness; handle tasks assigned by your supervisor; and review current internal operations procedures and processes.
