Volunteer to Teach in Costa Rica

About

Volunteer to teach at a small non-profit elementary school located in Puerto Jimenéz, Costa Rica. The main goal of the school is to give children greater opportunities through developing their critical thinking skills and creativity. Classes encourage a deep respect for the natural environment and an awareness of global cultures. The curriculum is bilingual (50% English and 50% Spanish) with interactive components.

Volunteers will have opportunity to assist full-time teachers in the classroom, provide private tutoring, supervise lunch and play times, participate in school events and assist with administration and maintenance tasks.

Volunteers are encouraged to share their own ideas for lessons and activities and be active participants in the community.

A pioneer of ecotourism, Costa Rica draws many tourists to its extensive series of national parks and other protected areas. Costa Rica began reversing deforestation in the 1990s, and they are moving towards using only renewable energy. Head to the cloud forest, relax on the beautiful beaches or visit a coffee farm.
