This project is located in San Ramon, a town an hour northwest of San Jose. Volunteers will be placed in rural areas of San Ramon. By teaching English to students in rural communities who aren’t exposed to native speakers, you are inspiring students and giving them the opportunity to one day begins a career where English is required. As a volunteer English teacher, you will have the opportunity to teach children and teenagers in local rural elementary and high schools. Conversational classes may be held in the evening to the adults of the community or parents that want to learn English to help their kids when they do homework but they can’t. It is the volunteer’s responsibility to organize educational activities and games that will promote learning and practice with a native speaker. The volunteers will not only teach English to the students, but they will organize small events and presentations to teach the students about their culture.
