About Program

The Galapagos Islands are well known for their exciting biodiversity, and it is incredibly important to conserve this fragile ecosystem. No one cares more about this effort than the locals themselves who have developed this exciting project to preserve the islands - 97% of which have been designated as a national park.

If you have a passion for wildlife then help to eradicate alien vegetation, reintroduce native species and aid the return of the giant tortoise. You can enjoy the stunning scenery and the abundance of bird life, sea lions, marine iguanas and lava lizards.

As well as helping with tasks such as planting, digging holes and clearing with machetes, you will also be given the opportunity to immerse yourself in the local community by helping with teaching English and assisting local organic farmers.

This is a once in a life time chance to visit an exclusive paradise. Accommodation provided is beautiful and close to some wonderful beaches.

Impact

Sustainability

Oyster Worldwide is passionate about the importance of responsible travel. We want our projects to fit in with the local way of life, without having a negative impact on the environment, culture or economy. This means that we will only send participants to places where there is a real need and where we have been asked to work. Once there, they should fit in with the community, respecting their way of life and supporting, rather than taking, local jobs.
