About Program
Dayspring is home to 30 children between the ages of 3 and 18. Dayspring children have all been affected by HIV/AIDS in some respect – orphaned by the disease, infected themselves and then rejected by their families, or can no longer be supported by infected parent(s). Blossom Trust provides food and shelter as well as medical, educational, and social support for the children. You, the volunteers, provide fun games and interaction, English and computer lessons, and assistance in supervising chores, homework, and their daily routine.
Surrounding the home is a six acre farm where we grow fruits and vegetables as well as cows, goats and chickens. The farm helps in providing food for Dayspring children and surplus is sold in the local market to support operational costs of the Home. In addition to manpower, volunteers have helped in introducing new practices including composting and waste management initiatives and the use of biogas for cooking fuel.
