About Program
Funded by the Department for International Development, International Citizen Service (ICS) is a global volunteering programme that supports young people from all backgrounds to make a real difference to global poverty. The programme will also build a generation of global citizens across the UK and in developing countries.
Volunteers spend 12 weeks overseas, working alongside young people from the country where they are placed. They will be immersed in another culture in a way that can’t be matched. Once they return, volunteers complete the Action at Home stage of ICS. The aim is to raise awareness of development issues and the work volunteers have done.
ICS is open to 18-25 year olds, with limited places available for Leaders aged 23+, who are British citizens, EEA citizen residing in the UK or have indefinite leave to remain in the UK.
We have placements throughout the year until 2015 in India, Nepal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
