The local Sherpa people rely on tourism to sustain their livelihoods in the mountain region of Nepal. Therefore, knowing English is important for making a decent living. As a volunteer, you can teach English in local schools, help schoolchildren strengthen their knowledge of English to communicate better and for a brighter future. You can also teach English to young monks in Buddhist monasteries in help them spread the teachings of Buddha into a wider sphere through English language.
