Manta Watch Camp, Marine Conservation, Papua New Guinea

Video and Photos

Manta Watch Camp are on the hunt for volunteers to join our challenging and rewarding Manta mission on a remote island off Papua New Guinea!

Initially, you will be helping us build a SCUBA diving research centre and educational facility on the island of Gonubalabala and working and living alongside the local inhabitants of the island. They aren't familiar with tourists yet, but they are really looking forward to meeting new people and they are incredibly welcoming. Don't worry, if you're not a builder, we also need help with interior design and cooking too!

The on-site PADI dive instructors will take you to our house reef where you will be introduced to our resident Manta rays. As they are endangered, we have a lot of work to do to protect them. We will teach you how to ID the manta rays and we will add the information to a database so we can share our discoveries with the world! You will be diving on some of the best reefs in the world and meeting some wonderful sea creatures!
