About Program

The Dreams to Reality Teaching program will give you the opportunity to provide much needed assistance at two schools located in some of South Africa's most disadvantaged areas. As a teaching assistant in the program you'll be helping local teachers teach English, Mathematics, Physical Studies and Life Skills. You'll also be able to provide much-needed one-on-one assistance to children who are having difficulty with some of their work. This is made easy with the help of our custom built Tutoring Centres. Sometimes all that is needed is a little extra attention at a young age to completely change a child's future outlook.

This is a unique way to experience South Africa's cultures and it's undeniable natural beauty. You don't require a teaching degree, just bring plenty of enthusiasm and an openness to learn skills that will set you up for the rest of your life. This is also a good way to meet amazing people and make friends that will last a lifetime.

Yes, I recommend this program

And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make

On my last day at Daylight Educare, where I volunteered during my last two weeks in South Africa, all the kids ran up to me, hugged me and said ``I love you.'' Volunteering isn't just about what you give, it's about what you receive. And what I received during my time with Dreams to Reality were lasting friendships with volunteers from all over the world, adventures ranging from the world's highest bungee jump to cage diving with white sharks, and -- most importantly -- the reward of helping children from extremely poor, violent, drug-infested neighborhoods. They were the most loving, affectionate children I've ever met. They appreciated what little they had and never took anything for granted. I learned as much from them as they learned from me.
