Primate and Monkey Rescue Project in South Africa

This primate and monkey sanctuary in South Africa offers a place for especially Marmoset, Tamarins and Squirrel Monkeys, which are generally kept as pets, a place to grow old in the best possible environment possible. The best would be free in nature but unfortunately many people see these monkeys as cute domestic pets which they are not and as soon as they grow older and become problematic they want to get rid of the once cute monkeys. The sanctuary is the place for these monkeys to go to and volunteers play a vital role in caring for their daily needs.

Currently the sanctuary is caring for over 80 Marmosets, Tamarins, Squirrel Monkeys and Mona Monkeys, Capuchin monkeys and Barbary Macaques and volunteers work hands on with all monkeys. This is not a place to sit back and watch, but rather to get actively involved in feeding, cleaning, caring and improving the living environment of the monkeys.
