What would you improve about this program?

Good Basic Review

This course presents a comprehensive overview of many aspects of teaching, many of which may be new or serve as a great refresher. A bit heavy on the teaching of kids though older age groups are also discussed.

You will encounter many aspects of teaching which you will recognize but now see in a different light as you need to present as the teacher and not the student. Queen's English is used in places (whilst) while in other areas it isn't. But easy enough to get through, take some time to consider each point being covered. It's a really good exercise!

What was your funniest moment?
I did not have any
Pros
  • solid overview
Cons
  • The online portion does not look up to date and was the least helpful
  • Do totally separate sections for young kids, teenagers and adults. The way it is presented you are jumping around a lot by age group and adults hardly got covered.
  • You should offer a way to do 20 hours in-school teaching to achieve a full certificate that many schools require.

My Experience with the World TESOL Academy English Teaching Course

Completing the World TESOL Academy English Teaching Course has been a rewarding and transformative experience for me. The curriculum is quite comprehensive. I liked how the modules were designed, they were not too long and they covered a wide range of topics. Each module was delivered clearly and concisely, with a mini quiz at the end of each module as a revision.

The online platform is user-friendly and it contains demo videos, images, and quizzes which enhanced my learning experience. I am now ready and confident to start my teaching journey now!

What would you improve about this program?
Providing an extensive and up-to-date resource library with a wide range of teaching materials, lesson plans, and supplementary resources would be beneficial for both current students and alumni. This would serve as a valuable reference for teachers, saving them time and effort in lesson preparation.
Pros
  • Comprehensive Curriculum: The course offers a comprehensive curriculum that covers a wide range of topics, including lesson planning, classroom management, and language acquisition.
  • Flexible Learning: The course structure allows for flexible learning, allowing students to study at their own pace and fit their studies around their existing commitments.
  • Practical Teaching: The course incorporates practical teaching examples, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios.
Cons
  • Limited Practical Classroom Experience: While the course incorporates practical teaching opportunities, the extent of hands-on experience may be limited.
  • Limited Practical Feedback: While the course incorporates practical teaching opportunities, the feedback provided on teaching practice sessions may be limited in scope.
  • Lack of Offline Resources: The course primarily utilizes an online platform for delivery, which could be challenging for individuals with limited internet access or who prefer offline learning materials.

Beginner to Pro - TESOL Certification Completion

First, I am honored to be able to share my experience with everyone. Thank you. I want to start off by saying that although this journey was an enduring one, the reward was worth it in the end. To anyone starting out - make sure to take frequent breaks, drink lots of water, and do research when need be. The information that is provided within this course is absolutely thorough, however, I would recommend doing any outside research that feels right based on your need(s). Otherwise, stay strong and know that achievement is knocking at your doorstep! This course will take you through the ends and outs of all requirements and knowledge needed to succeed in the ESL field whether online or in a classroom setting across the world. With that said, I wish every learner - past, present, and future the very best of luck in your future endeavors.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The most nerve-racking experience was having to prepare for the first interview experience but following the tips given towards the end of the course I was able to successfully make a great impression on some potential employers.
Pros
  • The courses were able to be done at my pace.
  • The incorrect answers were able to be reviewed if the score was 80% or above and the quiz could be retaken for a better grade.
  • The instructions were easy to follow and the pages information was relevant and up-to-date.
Cons
  • The hard-copy of the certification costs around $40 at the end which is not notated before signing up for the course. I should have done more research because that made the total cost around $100. Crazy!

Learned quite a bit

Before taking this course, I had no clue of how to teach a class here in Japan. Now i have a good idea of how to start. The course helped remind me of proper English grammar, since i been out of school for so long. Also learned some techniques on how to run a classroom and try to have fun doing it. I hope to find some work to help people to learn English.
Teaching young children will be a challenge but should be fun. I'm thinking of different props to use and purchase. This might open up opportunity to do online classes also. I have to look for some equipment now to get ready for a new career.

Efiicient tool to self-navigation

This program is a remarkable tool for beginner teachers. Studying this program in great details would be similar to obtaining supernatural teaching powers. Having some work experience with kids and adults I kept wondering why some students were always distracted. Lesson on seating arrangement has taught me that a simple change in sitting could have solved the problem. After finish this certificate, I am more than convinced of my future success with students of all kinds of backgrounds and motivation.

Teacher Jay's video classes have completely changed my mind on interactions with kids of rebelious age. I was blown away how easy it actualy is to make kids repeat basic phrases with so little effort.
Pros
  • Relevant

A Wholesome Guide to Teach English for Non-native Speakers

I enjoy my interesting learning process and the amazing content of this course. Every singe lesson include valuable knowledge and perfect examples and helpful suggestions so that I know where to start, what to do and how to it. During my learning process, I also tried applying the knowledge and tips that I had learned from this courses into my real classes. As the matter of facts, my students have become more engaging and cooperative during my class. I have even received positive feedback from parents saying that their children couldn't wait to attend my class and how much they enjoy learning English even beyond class time. It was truly rewarding for me as a teacher. I feel like I am ready to take further steps to upgrade and push myself even more in my career of being an English teacher.
Not only is this course insightful and enlightening, but it is also inspiring and valuable. I would definitely recommend it to my fellow teachers.

120 hour TESOL/TEFL

I recently completed my 120 hours tefl/TESOL. I was looking for an accredited one and which I can join online because regular classes were difficult to manage. I started the course for better job options but after joining I realized there was a lot more I didn't know before. Grammatical concepts, teaching techniques, pronunciation and student's learning style. Lessons in the course were well organized and were simple to understand, easily accessible and also the cherry on the top is tutors are always there to help you out.
I would like to recommend to have a notebook with you and make notes they are going to help you all along in your teaching journey. I hope I can utilize it best for my teaching career and implement what I learned here.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Before the final assessment. Now matter how old you are exams always make me nervous. But I took a deep breath and got it at first attempt.
Pros
  • Grammer
  • Lesson plans
  • Student engagement
Cons
  • Less example
  • Less activities
  • Few live sessios should be there with tutors
