Job Description

The International Business College Mitrovica is a teaching institution for students of 18+ years, which offers internationally recognised 2-year vocational diplomas and 3.5-year Bachelor degrees in the fields of Marketing and Management, Public Administration and Environmental Studies.

The college (IBCM) comprises of two campuses across the city of Mitrovica, serving the different communities present in the city. As an internationally oriented school, all courses are conducted in English. IBCM is characterised by its application-oriented approach, underscored by its institutional and programme accreditation across Europe, ensuring that its graduates hold a qualification that is relevant to the rapidly developing regional job market.

IBCM has had a new management structure since late 2013 and is moving towards long term sustainability, having received major initial development investment from governments across Europe.

English language teacher IBCM

IBCM is seeking a highly motivated and adaptable English teacher, to deliver a variety of the college’s English language courses. A major focus of the role is to deliver academic skills lectures to the college’s newer undergraduates. With most undergraduates transitioning into study in the English language, the IBCM provides a comprehensive support syllabus, covering topics such as report writing, critical thinking and referencing style.

The college holds full, unique partnership status with the British Council in Prishtina, offering IELTS, PET, KET and TKT to individuals and institutions across the region. A key task, fulfilled alongside other members of the IBCM English department, will be to design and deliver courses to institutions in British Council Prishtina’s network, which includes major government ministries and non-profit organisations working in Kosovo. The partnership also provides for IBCM English teachers to receive training within the British Council, representing a great opportunity for personal development.

Main tasks & responsibilities
• Organising, preparing and delivering IBCM academic skills classes;
• Assessing and adapting the existing syllabus, evaluating outstanding faculty and student needs;
• Collaborating closely with the British Council, facilitating joint delivery of courses;
• Assisting with the department’s community outreach workshops;
• Creating an enthusiasic and engaging classroom atmosphere.

Requirements and skills
• Native English speaker;
• Recognised English language teaching qualification - TEFL, CELTA, DELTA, TESOL (or recognised equivalent);
• Good communication, social skills and sensitivity, and ability to work in a multicultural, post conflict setting;
• Willingness to live in the Kosovo region and work in the city of Mitrovica;
• Teaching experience is highly desirable;
• Good team player, keen to see the department grow;
• Relevant Master’s degree would be an asset;
• Recent academic experience is desirable.
