Give us a little intro

Hi! My name is Marina, and I'm currently a pre-med senior at Washington University in St. Louis working on a major in Psychology and a minor in Art History.

Why did you pick this program?

I picked this program because I wanted to be in a location that would allow me to improve my Spanish, while having the resources of a large city. Cordoba offered the cultural and social opportunities that come with a city, versus other programs in more rural areas. I also chose the medical program because of my interest in the medical field, and actually ended up doing additional work in the human rights campaign!

What do you tell your friends who are thinking about going abroad?

I tell them to do it! It's an amazing life experience, and the (mis)adventures that you'll have along the way will stay with you for a lifetime.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

There are so many little pieces of advice that I would give. But, if I had to choose one, I would tell them to have an open mind and vigilant eyes. Have fun and enjoy yourself, but always make sure to be aware of where you are/who you're around.

What's your favorite story to tell about your time abroad?

I have so many stories to tell, after all I was abroad for 4 months! However, I think my favorite would be my trip to the Iguazu Falls, which borders Argentina and Brazil. I took a 22 hour bus ride with 5 of my friends to the falls, which passed by much faster than one would think! Our hostel was right across from the bus station, which was very convenient. The falls themselves were absolutely amazing, and I felt myself awestruck in their presence. I actually extended my trip by two weeks to make this trip, and I'm so happy that I did.

Is there anything you regret about your time?

Nope! But that's because I pushed myself to go outside my comfort zone, and I would encourage you to do the same (safely of course!). Don't be afraid to explore your surroundings and make friends!
