Why did you decide to volunteer with Outreach 360 in the Dominican Republic?

I decided to volunteer with Outreach360 in the Dominican because volunteering aboard was always something I knew I wanted to do. The company and organization was non-profit which I liked and the leaders and everyone involved have such huge hearts. Everything was very legit and well organized.

Describe your day to day activities as a volunteer.

My day to day activities consisted of waking up at 6 am everyday, having breakfast, going to the public school to teach two classes, playing with the kids at recess and then going back to our place for lunch with the other volunteers. In the afternoon we taught at a learning center, which had smaller classes, and played with the kids at recess.

Then, we came back and had dinner. Spent the rest of the night making lesson plans for the next day of school and going to the park or around the area to hang out with kids and enjoy time with the locals.

What made this experience unique and special?

What made my volunteer experience unique and special were the kids and the people. Everyone was so humble. I loved growing closer to my team as well as other volunteers from other schools. I loved having one-on-one time with the kids and teaching them.

How has this experience impacted your future?

This has impacted my future by making me wanting to pursue volunteer work whether it is overseas or local. I've always had a big heart for others and always wanted to have the aboard experience. I'm definitely going to go back this summer or next year.
