Staff Spotlight: Jonatán Torres Estrada

Title::
Volunteer Advisor

What is your favorite travel memory?

Going to Belize as part of my job last year. Getting to know incredible people in San Pedro, Belize, the view and a DJ party that I was able to go with some volunteers on a Saturday night. Also knowing Melody who was a staff member of Projects Abroad Belize, as she was really helpful.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I have learned a lot since I started working for Projects Abroad, I have improved my English and most recently, my French skills, I have met a lot of volunteers and staff from all over the world without having to travel and I have lived a lot of experiences.

I have grown in confidence and work skills, and I also found love by working with Projects Abroad.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I would definitely choose a Conservation Project, probably Fiji shark conservation or Costa Rica or Peru jungle conservation or Kenya or Botswana. It is a very tough decision as there are many incredible destinations and projects. Also I would not mind a more cultural project like the ones in Cambodia or Morocco.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

The diversity - diversity of people, cultures, ways of working, etc.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

The human factor, considering staff as humans and not just focusing on what the customers desire or want, as sometimes customers ask for impossible things or have unrealistic expectations. A balance, mutual respect and respect to the earth.
