Interview

What is your favorite travel memory?

One of the best things of travelling have been the people I met on these journeys. No matter if through couchsurfing, in eight bed hostel rooms or on the train: There have been so many inspiring discussions from different points of view, so many nights at restaurants and bars to celebrate the coincidence of our encounters and with some of them I am still in touch with today.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

By meeting instructors and students from all over the world, I learned that no matter where someone was born, it's possible that we all meet in the same place at some point. This thought somehow comforts me and makes me excited about the next years. Fingers crossed that a lot more friendships will start at FUBiS in the future :-)

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

We have done a survey among alumni a couple of years ago and learned from this that two of our former students got married some time after they have met in the FUBiS program. Knowing that our program does not only influence the academic, but also the social life of our former students means a lot to us.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I would choose the course "History of European Art". The topic interests me since high school. The course combines theoretical parts with visits to the numerous and famous Berlin Museums. This, and the different cultural backgrounds of the participating students would make me enjoy the program a lot.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

Even though we are just a small team of currently eight persons, we are proud to be one of Germanys' biggest summer and winter universities. Seeing more than (on average) 600 students completing our program every year makes us proud over and over again. Plus, one of the greatest compliments is, if students join the program again for a second time.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

I believe it's essential that a company provides a working environment in which all employees feel comfortable and enjoy working. Only then can teamwork be productive, the employee motivated and new ideas developed. At FUBiS, we work in teams the whole time. Feedback rounds, team meetings on a regular basis, and workshops on topics such as intercultural communication and conflict management are just some examples for the continuous exchange between each other.
