The quick answer is that you can apply through API's website. API helps you through the whole process in processing your application and preparing you to go abroad. Also - don't forget to check with your home university! Many universities in the US have an internal application or process to approve students to study abroad. Definitely check with your school's study abroad office if you're interested in going to Rome or anywhere else to study abroad!
