Thank you CareerUp

I don't usually write reviews online but I feel like I need to say thank you to CareerUp. I applied to a few intern abroad programs and CareerUp was the only program that was transparent about what positions I would be matched with before I had to pay a big fee. From reading reviews of the other programs I knew that many times the internship matches were not great. When I applied to CareerUp they told me exactly which positions I was matched with and they guaranteed I'd get one of my top internship choices (they delivered on this promise). I thought this was really cool and I'm surprised they are not getting more PR for this. I don't know any other company that can guarantee your acceptance to an internship that you choose. They seem to have some pretty advanced tech to make this happen. Aside from actually getting me accepted to the internships I chose, their team was very professional and me and my parents were really happy with the experience overall. My advice to other people looking to intern abroad is to do it with CareerUp. It is a big investment to intern abroad and I would not risk going with a program where you don't know your internship matches before you have to commit financially.

Internship in Barcelona

So... I could say so much. It was an exciting, scary, wonderful, challenging, eyeopening experience and so much more. It was my first time living abroad and I am so thankful I did it. I might not have another chance like this when I can just pack up go. I had no real responsibilities and I nothing to lose!

I worked for a really cool startup company. The team there was so friendly and welcoming. They were working to expand into the US and they were really thankful to have me there and asked me a ton of questions about what I thought and how people in the US would think about their website. I felt like I was able to make a real contribution and I learned a ton in the process.

I can't want to go back and visit with my new colleagues and friends in the future. Oh, and the food is amazing!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Just do it. You're young, you're going to get bogged down with life and responsibilities. This is the time to just go for and get out of your comfort zone!

My internship in London

CareerUp was great and made it super easy to find my internship in London. They are a great program because they are transparent about which positions you are matched with. Before I had to pay any program fees I got to choose exactly what positions I could be placed with. The housing and everything was also great. I met a lot of cool people from all around the world and made a bunch of friends that I am still in touch with. I'd recommend the program for anyone who likes to travel and needs an internship.

Manila Adventure

All this was possible because of my admissions counselor, Alex DiMeglio. We first connected in December of 2018 and he helped me throughout this whole process. Anytime I had a question, I emailed Alex, and he would always respond. If he didn’t know the answer to any of my questions, he made sure he gave his all to find the answer I was looking for. I never felt that Alex would ignore me, or would leave me on my own; he was always there whenever I needed assistance. Alex is truly amazing and made this whole process doable and I am very grateful to have spoken with him and build a relationship with him.

Career Up provided me with an amazing opportunity and has increase my chances for potential job search and it gave me a chance to explore another country. I truly recommend this company for anyone looking for internship opportunities and and a chance to travel

Manila

I loved my program because my internship was flexible with work hours. The usual work days are long in the Philippines because they are dealing with other companies in different time zones. They let me also take off before the weekend so I could be able to travel around the Philippines. I got the chance to go to Cebu, Coron, puerto Princesa, and do Nido while I was there for a month. I got to see whale sharks in Cebu. When I was in Coron, I got to make ready great friends with the tour guide and we still talk till this day. Everyone is so friendly in the Philippines. In el Nido, I did one boat tour. When I went to puerto Princesa, I got to see one of the wonders of the world the underground river and it was really interesting. I enjoyed my trip and wish I could’ve stayed longer.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
when I stepped off the plane and got into my first grab ride.

A great, enriching experience in beautiful Singapore!

During my internship with CareerUp in Singapore, I had the chance to meet so many fellow interns, make valuable connections at my host company, and to travel around Asia and immerse myself in a new culture. I was able to learn valuable skills in a booming and growing country, and this is something I'm proud of talking about when I'm seeking future opportunities. It's such a unique experience that is unmatched by any other internship experience. I was able to be in a company that had a strong start-up culture, where I was able to connect with the managers and partners and seek unique advice. The program also provided me with a strong internship program for me to develop my hard technical skills. If you have the means and resources, I highly recommend checking out this program.

What would you improve about this program?
The on-site staff/manager could've been more proactive in checking in on our experience. I also found that I did not get to know my company well until I arrived.

Barcelona! A great experience!

Overall, I had a great experience. Although it was an unpaid internship, my main goal was learning as much as I could during my 3 months internship. Regarding the accomodation, I could suggest that you find a place on your own as it can be cheaper.
The experience of living abroad was amazing. I learnt a lot at work as I was involved in the development of different projects. There were 2 more Spanish students working as interns which made me feel more confortable. I also had the chance to meet people from all over and travel to different cities close to Barcelona.
I decided to do the internship to gain working experience abroad and to practice my English, and after only 2 months in Barcelona I was offered a full-time contract which was amazing!.

What would you improve about this program?
In my opinion, the information about the accomodation should be explained better

Marketing Intern Singapore

Interning in Singapore was an intriguing opportunity that allowed me to not only meet and work alongside wonderful people, but also allowed me a different perspective of Singapore. The initial process of becoming a CareerUp intern was very efficient and relatively simplistic. I would recommend you reread everything on the process though as a general rule. A key employee who was extremely helpful and informative was Lara Yehia.

I enjoyed the fact that once you were in Singapore it was really on you to figure out your way, but you always had the back up of a CareerUp employee. That being said, my supervisor within my internship didn't have much for me to do, so though I enjoyed the traveling and the social aspect of my experience, I questioned whether I was really needed or gaining skills for future endeavors.

What would you improve about this program?
I think there could be an improvement on the communication between employers and CareerUp. I often heard that interns rarely had anything to do or had miscommunications in the system in regards to where they were suppose to be or financial matters. Also, I wish they had a clearer discription of what you are paying for as I was sometimes surprised by different fees. However, for a company that helps you intern abroad I think CareerUp is efficient and successful.

A Must Do For All!

Interning abroad is a life changing experience! CareerUp ensures that you are 100% safe and is really flexible in ensuring your own happiness and satisfaction. I’m very glad I had the opportunity to expand my perspectives and be able to not only develop my professional skills, but also heighten my cultural awareness. CareerUp guides you every step of the way and I’ve been able to make lifelong connections with fellow interns as well as those in the company I worked for! The housing provided and the area within Singapore is also amazing—The accommodation staff are SUPER friendly and you’re so close to everything from public transportation, getting good food, and exploring the main city life within Singapore. Once again, I highly recommend CareerUp to anyone looking to go overseas and develop their professional side!

Superb Career Coaching

The interviewing process both online and in-person can be a tedious and stressful process for some people. The pressure can be overwhelming if not channeled accordingly. However, the team at Career Up has been really helpful and supportive throughout the whole interviewing process.
They walk you through your resume first and provide guidance on how to make it more appealing to future employers. They also help you to find ways to maximize your personal brand as well as your LinkedIn profile, so that it looks both natural and professional at the same time. Lastly, the best experience I had coming out of this process is that I felt more confident to a greater extent going into the actual Skype/phone interview because of the work that I and the people at Career Up have done collaboratively.
