Applicants must be 18 or older, a U.S. resident, currently enrolled at a higher education institution in the United States, and planning to study abroad in New Zealand in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027. You must also intend to enroll at one of New Zealand’s eight universities. Final confirmation of the prize is contingent upon acceptance into a study abroad program at one of these institutions.
Eligible programs may include semester study abroad or undergrad full-degree programs.
The flight to New Zealand from the US is a long one… but the journey is best shared with a companion! You can bring a parent or guardian, your older sibling, best friend, etc!
Nope! The prize includes two round-trip flight vouchers from the U.S. to New Zealand. Travelers do not need to be on the same itinerary or travel dates. For example, a student may stay for a full semester while their parent or companion returns earlier.
No, you do not need to be accepted at the time of application, However, if selected as a winner, you must use the flight vouchers for an approved study abroad program at one of New Zealand’s eight universities.
Applications will be evaluated and scored based on how well their response reflects the following:
- Clarity – how clearly and effectively the entrant communicates their ideas
- Intentionality – how purposeful, thoughtful, and genuine the response is
- Curiosity – how strongly the response reflects an openness to learning, exploration, and new experiences
You can earn up to 2 optional bonus points by submitting a creative vision board and/or a short video with your application by Apr. 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. PST. To make it easy, we've added helpful templates which you can access in the application form.
