Study Abroad Lithuania: Joining a International Family

During my undergrad program, I would say that my study abroad experience has had a major impact on where I am at now in life. Not only do you partake in courses that fit with your major of study, but you travel and make lifetime friends.
LCC has staff, faculty, and students that are intentional and super inviting. They encourage all students to continue growing academically and also to grow out of their comfort zones, travel to new places, try new foods, and learn new languages.

Wonderful experience!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
One thing that I would do differently is packing less and wait to get a Sims card overseas (it is extremely cheaper than keeping a US phone plan with international services). You can easily contact family and friends through wifi calling. & In regards to packing the university allows students a great deal of independence to shop at stores, thrift shops, and the city center upon arrival.

Study Abroad Lithuania

I absolutely loved my semester at LCC International University! I was challenged to think in new ways, meet new people, and reconsider the way I view the world. The program staff was incredible and helped connect study abroad students with travel (including trips to Russia, Latvia, and Estonia with the entire study abroad cohort), internships, and study opportunities. As a student of international relations, my semester at LCC gave me great new insights into this part of the world and helped develop my academic passion for the region. I can't recommend this program enough!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
There are so many incredible and cheap travel opportunities from Lithuania, but don't travel so much that you miss out on local life!

Uplifting and Impactful Place to Study

LCC is great, because it's off the beaten path. Most will go to Italy, Spain, or the UK for a study abroad experience. Lithuania is still a place of largely undiscovered magic to the typical student. While a young girl such as myself would feel nervous about traveling somewhere alone in the evenings at other, more common locations, there is a strong sense of security and safety at all hours in Klaipeda. There was not a day that went by that I did not have somewhere new to explore. As far as the campus goes, it is like close-knit community you are immediately welcomed into. The multitude of nationalities and cultures coming together is truly inspirational.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
During the festival of lights in Klaipeda, there is a dog parade. The goal of this parade is to have the brightest outfit for one's dog. I saw a string of countless pets strutting their stuff in sweaters and costumes riddled with Christmas lights and similar decor. It was very illuminating.

A Life Changing Expirience

LCC was the best decision I made in my college career. It is a truly international experience, and the different cultures represented in the student body taught me so much. The trips taken with the study abroad cohort were well organized, educational, and extremely fun. Not only did I go on the three trips with the program, but Lithuania is an amazing place to explore Europe from, since flights, trains, and cars to other countries are relatively cheap. Even if you prefer to stay in the Klaipeda area, the dorms are bursting with new things to learn from people from all over the world. Your international roommates and the friends you make from cooking together in the kitchen will make you feel welcome and loved. There are so many programs and opportunities to become involved and be supported by the LCC community. I highly recommend the internship opportunities provided with LCC. At LCC, I made life long friends and memories, and I would not change a thing.
