We offer our trainees the opportunity to study an internationally accepted TEFL Certificate course, whilst enjoying a rich cultural experience in Peru. We offer a highly personalized course with a maximum of 12 trainees per group to ensure you receive the attention you deserve. You will complete 10 hours of teaching practice of real local students which is an invaluable part of your TEFL course. Graduates will be placed in teaching positions in Peru through our job placement program.

If you’re thinking about completing your TEFL course, I would 100% recommend TEFL zorritos. Adan our instructor was so helpful and delivered such an engaging course over the month. They were very supportive and were always there to help with anything we needed. We had to plan and deliver 10 practice lessons at a real institute with real students which really helped with getting more comfortable in a class setting.
The location is also great if you want to visit more of Peru and since you have free weekends, it’s so easy to do weekend trips to El Misti or the Colca canyon.

What was your funniest moment?

Everyday was full of funny moments, I made incredible life long friends through the course that I’ll be sure to keep in contact with, which made everyday so enjoyable and easy.

From the beginning, the course was hard, but it paid off massively. By the end, I was confident in my ability to teach. The teacher and the on-site coordinator were both amazing. Great advice, very helpful, and a great sense of humour made the course less stressful. It has my full recommendation for anyone that wants to travel and get a certification that you can use anywhere in the world. I especially recommend it for solo travellers. It's a great way to meet new people and make lasting friends. I did the course fresh out of high school, and I am incredibly happy I did. While it's a great course for any age, I believe it's a perfect opportunity for growth as a youth. It was great fun, an enjoyable challenge, and an amazing experience.

Coming into this course I was ready for a challenge and to stretch my brain and this was perfect. Adan made learning so much fun and challenging and really required us to brainstorm and open our minds and eyes. Margaret was so sweet and offered much knowledge about teaching after the course and overall I would recommend this course to people who are wanting to test their limits and go through a rewarding journey. I would not go through a third party to enroll in this course because you can save alot more money if you just go through TEFL Zorritos personally. This course can be very tedious but it really helps prepare you for and makes you aware of everything that goes into teaching English to non-english speakers. Thank you Adan and Margaret

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?

Definitely preparing for your practice classes and not just for the first one but for all of them. Brainstorming and preparing a structural lesson plan for your classes can be very tidious but paying attention to how the students respond and what they comprehend can help you along the way for future classroom lessons.

It was a great course! I met friends for life and from the first week to the last I feel fully prepared to start my new job and teach like a superstar. The location was amazing, the staff at the hotel were very friendly, great food as well. The course itself was never too stressful or difficult. It was hard the first week of classes because I wasn't sure what to expect but after the first week my time just flew by! I want to stay longer because it was so great here but I am very excited to have 2 weeks off before starting my job in Cuzco at Superior Ingles. I think that it will be a great base for me to base my travels out of. I will only be part time however as full time teaching opportunities are quiet rare but I feel confident I have the resources to look for additional work if I need to and can even teach online :)

My experience here in Zorritos, Peru was nothing but a good time. The atmosphere the course is set in is demanding yet still has a good balance of freedom and spare time to immerse yourself in the laidback and friendly culture.

The course content was kept interesting through the use of practical and fun activities. The course trainer was very knowledgeable and supportive throughout the whole legth of the course. The on-site coordinator was a lot of help when it came to our placements and job enquiries. She also made great efforts to help us with our Spanish in her spare time.

The location was absolutely a dream, right on the beach, located in such a friendly little town full of character. The hotel was made to be felt like home since the day we arrived. The staff became a big part of our experience because how helpful and kind they were.
I am leaving knowing I met some incredible people, both staff and fellow class members.
Highly recommend the experience.

What was your funniest moment?

The funniest moments were always in class during the group activities - they were always projected with a good sense of humour and made the class even closer.

Why did you choose this program?

I chose this program from an agency in Australia, as this was the company they recommended for teaching in Peru.

If I'd had the hindsight I would've gone straight through TEFL Zorritos rather than pay more through an agency, as the agency did very little to assist and I paid double what I would've paid going directly through TEFL Zorritos themselves, and TEFL Zorritos have done all the legwork to get me here.

In saying this I wasn't sure at first what I was looking for, only somewhere to learn to teach in South America. Luckily I have gone through the best program yet to do this.

What did your program provider assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

The agency arranged the connection with TEFL Zorritos. I will mention them only once as I feel others who want to be a traveler working overseas should make an informed choice. The company is called Global Work and Travel, and if I had the chance again I wouldn't have wasted the money I paid for their exorbitant prices when all the help I actually received was from TEFL Zorritos.

Once I was introduced to Ellie via an interview on Skype, they provided all the correct information about the course (the agency gave me the wrong, outdated information), and answered all the questions I had leading up to the trip, during and after the program. They would have arranged the accommodation and assisted with flights for a percentage of the price if I had gone directly too; they do everything and more than what an agency would do.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

Cut out the middleman of paying for an agency as I noted above and go direct with the program. If you do your research and read the reviews, you will see what you can get out of this, and what will suit you.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

We spent our first month living in a gorgeous resort called Mar Adento. We had breakfast included, with our own rooms.

Classes were from 9:30 am - 4:30 pm and practice classes were held Monday to Wednesday for an hour from 6:30 pm, start times you should teach depend on how many other teachers are there.

In our spare time we were immersing ourselves in a little town called Zorritos where it was quaint and simple, we practiced our Spanish, tried new cuisine that was so cheap we couldn't believe it when we compared the exchange of our own currency, (try the Papa rejinas when in Peru!), And had opportunities on the weekend to explore other places (on our second weekend we swam with turtles).

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

My biggest fear was and still is failure. I felt like this a few times in the course, that I hadn't been as good as I could've been, that I was useless at being a teacher and that with all the culture shock, occasional bad stomach aches (it'll happen now and then but it's part of the experience you'd say), and being there on my own, it was too hard to go on.

But going back to class the next day and getting up in front of a class full of students and teaching them, and seeing their understanding and appreciation made the difference, as well as the support from TEFL Zorritos.

What is your favorite travel memory?

Visiting Machu Picchu is a travel experience I'll never forget. Seeing the sun rise over the ruins is a truly unforgettable experience. Spending a day walking around the ruins in amazement is something that I regularly dream about doing again.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

Working for TEFL Zorritos has forced me to jump into a new community quickly. I have learned how to make community connections by being a part and speaking with all whom I can. Another way I have grown since working here is learning how to deliver constructive criticism to our trainees.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

A month long teaching and cultural experience in a rural part of Peru is what makes TEFL Zorritos unique.

While attending our course our trainees can get a very real experience living in Peru. They get a chance to teach real students and adults from the community they are living in.

I have been especially proud of our team when we finish giving the practice classes and we can see the appreciation from the community.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

The biggest factor for our company's success is delivering a positive teaching and learning experience to our trainees. In order to do this it is extremely important to be well organized and have an open line of communication between all employees and trainees.
